Training, Experience, and Expertise
Dr. Yuan graduated Dean’s List from Johns Hopkins University with a B.A. in Neuroscience before earning his medical degree from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. During which time he completed a plastic surgery clinic research fellowship.
Dr. Yuan then completed his residency training in plastic and reconstructive surgery at University of Cincinnati and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, where he gained expertise in all aspects of plastic surgery, including aesthetic surgery of the face, breast and body, as well as adult and pediatric reconstructive procedures for patients with traumatic or burn injuries, cancer, and congenital and craniofacial anomalies.
After serving as Chief Resident, Dr. Yuan went on to complete an additional year of subspecialty training in hand, upper extremity, and microsurgery at University of Connecticut in Hartford, Connecticut, one of the longest tenured hand fellowship programs in the country. Dr. Yuan takes immense pride in his honesty, humility, and never-ending desire to perfect his craft, while having the opportunity to make a positive impact in people’s lives.
ON A PERSONAL NOTE
Dr. Yuan grew up in Michigan surrounded by the beautiful Great Lakes and the four seasons. Apart from playing piano at a very young age, he also played tennis competitively. Dr. Yuan holds a black belt in Taekwondo and has won multiple medals in national competitions. When he is not serving his patients, he enjoys cooking, hiking, scouting the city for interesting places to eat, playing with his two dogs, traveling with his wife, Kim, who is a nurse practitioner, and enjoying life with their daughter. He is also a fantasy football enthusiast, an avid student of Krav Maga and the Filipino martial arts – Atienza Kali, and fluent in mandarin Chinese."
